Hamilton, Burlington and Area

Considering I was born and raised in Hamilton, you'd think I'd have more here. The exodus from high resto rents in Toronto (and even Burlington) has resulted in such an explosion of Hamilton Eateries that it’s hard to keep up.

Since November 2018, keeping up has become my job as the new Restaurant Reviewer for the Hamilton Spectator, visiting a resto every week!

[COVID-19 Update - Sadly I have had to delete a few of my favourites that did not survive. Also, some restos are surviving but in a modified mode - not serving the kind of menu they had pre-pandemic.]

I decided not to reproduce every review here - only those places that have become favourites where I return (or intend to return) often. This doesn’t mean there’s something terribly wrong with other locations. Hard to describe the mystery of forming a bond with an eatery.

To see more reviews, Google ‘Hamilton Spectator Galambos’. Note that I have not been permitted to review places that were covered by my predecessor in her two-year stint.

You can see my latest reviews here and all of them on MuckRack.

[If you too were "born and raised" in what they now call "The Hammer" you might enjoy this restaurant flashback. ]
